FULL REPORT: The band travelled to Markethill for Kilcluney Volunteers parade. After small attendances in recent weeks, it was decided that a 33 seater should be booked for the trip. On meeting at the pick up point we soon realised that we had, as close to a full band out, as weve had in almost a year, and with 5 in the colour party, 2 bass drummers, 9 side drummers, 21 fluters and 3 visitors we soon realised that 40 people wernt all going to fit on th bus. Arrangements were made for some cars to be taken and we set off on our journey. On arrival in Markethill, you could sense that this was going to be a massive parade, with the main Armagh to Newry Rd. turned into a bus depot. The parade itself attracted over 70 bands which is nothing less than the host band deserve, after all their efforts in attending so many parades the previous year. The parade was led by the impressive Sons of Ulster from Glasgow who, much to the pleasure of the huge crowds, treated everyone by walking the parade twice. On the night we played quite well ourselves, although the fluting should have been better for the numbers in attendance, but all in all a very enjoyable parade that any band in the country will be hard pushed to put on a better show.
